Beautiful things belong in everyday life

Most of us have a few things we save for best. The lovely towels kept for guests. The favourite tablecloth brought out for celebrations. And that wonderfully soft bathrobe still on the wish list, because the old one has some life left in it.
There is always a reason to put a little pleasure off. Until the house is finished. Until the next holiday. Until everything else has been taken care of. Yet an ordinary evening after work is part of our life, too. The things we touch, the rooms we spend time in and the small comforts we come home to deserve our attention today.
A little pleasure is reason enough
In an Anketolog survey of 2,000 people in Russia, 71% said they sometimes bought something to feel happier. The most commonly cited emotional reason for a purchase was to keep a good mood going and treat themselves, mentioned by 58%. Home comforts were among the purchases chosen by 30%.
The impulse is familiar. Sometimes we want to mark the end of a demanding project. Sometimes a room is ready for a fresh touch. And sometimes we come across something and can already picture how much we would enjoy having it at home.
There need not be a milestone attached. Taking pleasure in the place where you live is a perfectly good reason to choose something lovely, especially when you know exactly how it will fit into your day.
The pleasure of using it, again and again
A purchase has its first bright moment: choosing it, waiting for it, unwrapping it. Well-chosen everyday pieces offer something beyond that moment. They remain a pleasure to use long after they have become familiar.
A soft terry bathrobe after a shower. A warm throw within reach of your reading chair. A textured bedspread that makes the bedroom feel considered with a simple sweep of the hands each morning. Cloth napkins that bring a little care to an otherwise simple supper.
Over time, these things find their place in your routine. You reach for a favourite towel because you like the way it feels. You settle under a throw because it is cosy. You linger over breakfast because the table is a lovely place to sit.
That is where the value of a purchase begins to reveal itself: in all the ordinary moments when you are glad you chose it. A useful question to ask is, “How often will I enjoy this?”

Comfort is in the details
It is easy to get used to small discomforts at home. A towel has become rough. A bathrobe never quite sits comfortably. A throw looks beautiful but feels scratchy, so it stays folded over the sofa.
None of these may seem a pressing reason to replace something. Yet they are things we use every day. It makes sense to be particular: feel the fabric, consider its weight and texture, and think about how it will fit your routine, including washing and care.
With good home textiles, beauty is something you can feel. It is there in the softness of terry cotton, the warmth of a throw and the way a fabric drapes. Colour matters, too. You will be looking at it every morning; it should be a shade you love.
This everyday experience is central to Casa Lusso. Cotton towels and bathrobes, throws made with wool or cashmere, and textured bedspreads offer different ways to make yourself comfortable. Coordinated colours and designs within the collections allow a room to come together gradually, one well-chosen piece at a time.
Choose something you will love living with
In the same Russian survey, 79% said they had at least once bought something on impulse that they later barely used. Before treating yourself, it is worth picturing an ordinary day. Where would this new piece belong?
If you enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a beautiful tablecloth may bring you pleasure. If you read by an open window in the evening, a warm throw may be just right. If you treasure a few quiet minutes after a shower, a soft cotton bathrobe could become a daily favourite.
There is no need to replace everything at once. Begin with one thing that would make your day more comfortable. Find the right size, a fabric you enjoy, a colour you love and a price you feel comfortable with. Give yourself time to be sure.
Then use it. Lay the table, unfold the throw, reach for the good towels. Let a beautiful thing become part of an ordinary day.
After all, a new morning is occasion enough.
